happy monday

I think it is that time of the year when people get sick, whether it’s because all the students are back in town and spreading germs in close quarters or because the weather is getting colder.  Or maybe both.  So, if you’re sick, take comfort, you’re not alone!  My body has given in, and I’m trying to follow my own advice to drink tons of water, eat nutritious food, stay warm, sleep a lot, and generally rest.  If things get really bad, I’ll start taking vitamins and drinking lots of ginger and garlic tea (not mixed!).  What are your family secrets to staying healthy or beating a cold?  Is it common in Sweden to take vitamins?  My flatmates, at least, prefer to get theirs from natural sources (aka. vegetables), which I think is a better attitude than constant pill-popping.  But sometimes I think it’s good to take supplements, especially if you’re a woman and have trouble getting enough iron, calcium, or protein or whatever we’re supposed to have.  Or Airborne is always good if you want to saturate your body with vitamin C (which won’t kill you, by the way, because it’s a water-soluble vitamin and any excess amounts will exit your body with your urine).  So, besides waking up today and feeling sick, while riding my bike to the LTH campus this morning, I cut my hand by running into a garbage can and got lightly side-swiped by a car.  happy monday.
